Changes, cancellations & refunds

Know who controls the refund decision

Use this checklist to prepare a cancellation or refund question. The ticket issuer and fare conditions—not a general guide—determine the final outcome.

Before you cancel

  • Find the booking reference, ticket number and passenger name.
  • Identify who issued the ticket and which provider operates the flight.
  • Check whether the fare is refundable, changeable, credit-only or restricted.
  • Note the departure time and any cancellation deadline shown in the booking.

What can affect eligibility

Fare type, ticket issuer, payment method, provider schedule changes, unused segments, no-show rules and local consumer protections can all affect the result. A provider may offer a refund, credit, rebooking or no refund depending on the specific terms.

How StateJourney can help

We can help you organise the facts, identify the relevant question and explain what to check next. We cannot override provider rules, promise approval or decide how much will be returned.

After submitting a request

Keep copies of the booking, provider notices and any reference number. Follow the provider’s response instructions and check your payment statement according to its stated process.

Time-sensitive: If a provider has cancelled or materially changed your flight, preserve the notice and contact the provider promptly. Do not cancel a replacement itinerary until you understand the conditions.
